Silver maple origin
The silver maple (Acer saccharinum) is native to North America. There, it is common along riverbanks, in floodplain forests, and in damp lowlands. In Europe, it has been valued as an ornamental tree in parks and large gardens since the 18th century. The tree can reach a height of up to 30 meters and forms a broad, spreading crown. Its deeply incised, five-lobed leaves with a silvery-white underside are characteristic, shimmering strikingly when blown in the wind.
Silver maple care and location
The silver maple prefers sunny to partially shaded locations with fresh, moist, and nutrient-rich soils. It is adaptable, but grows best in deep, well-drained soils. Plant it in a location with sufficient space for its broad crown. The soil should be moist but well-drained. A layer of mulch helps retain moisture and protect the roots. The silver maple is frost-hardy and tolerates urban climates well.
Pruning silver maple
A regular Video editing is not required. If necessary, minor crown adjustments can be made in the summer. Major pruning should be avoided, as the tree bleeds heavily.
Do you need to fertilize silver maples?
In nutrient-rich soils, no additional fertilization necessary. If necessary, some compost can be applied in spring. mulch layer made of organic material supports the nutrient supply and retains moisture in the soil.
Water silver maple properly!
Young silver maples require a uniform Water supply, especially during dry periods. The soil should always be moist, but not wet. tree bath Irrigation bag offers an effective solution. It is placed around the trunk, filled with water, and slowly releases it into the soil. This optimally supplies the root zone, and the water penetrates deep into the soil without evaporation or runoff.
