Watering bags are easy to use. However, some mistakes can prevent the bag from emptying properly or damage the material. Here we show you ten common mistakes – and how to avoid them.

1. Hang the filled bag by the loops.

The black loops are not designed to support the weight of a filled watering bag. They are only intended to briefly lift the partially filled bag during filling, allowing the soil to expand properly.

2. Place the bag on pointed objects.

Check the surface before installation. Sharp stones, branches, or other objects can damage the material.

3. Using contaminated water unfiltered

Dirt, algae, and other suspended particles can clog the small irrigation openings. Therefore, use water that is as clean as possible and filter any dirty water before filling it.

4. Pierce additional holes in the bag

The outlet openings are designed to release the water slowly. Additional holes can alter the bag's functionality and permanently damage the material.

5. Move the filled bag or open the zipper.

A completely full watering bag should neither be transported nor opened. Empty it first before removing it or placing it in a different location.

6. Leave the watering bag permanently attached to the tree.

If the bag is not needed for an extended period, it should be removed, cleaned, and stored in a dry place. This is especially important outside of the irrigation season.

7. Fill the bag with water in freezing conditions.

The watering bag should not be used in freezing conditions. After the watering season, it is recommended to empty it completely, clean it, and store it in a dry place.

8. Clean the bag with a pressure washer or sharp objects.

For cleaning, you should not use sharp objects or high water pressure, as this can damage the material or the outlet openings.

9. Adding unsuitable fertilizers or liquids

If you want to apply liquid fertilizer via the watering bag, make sure it is completely dissolved and contains no solid particles. Also, follow the manufacturer's dosage instructions.

10. Water strictly according to the calendar

Whether a tree needs water depends on factors such as soil, weather, tree species, and location. Therefore, check the soil moisture and adjust watering accordingly.
